SWAG EXPANDS IN TO REGIONAL DIVISIONS

SWAG-R-ACCI
Students Working Against Great-Injustice -Region- Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute

Last month, a diverse group of students at ACCI attended a forum commemorating the 60 year anniversary of the Universal Declartion of Human Rights. The focus of the meeting quickly shifted from human rights to student rights and from a system-wide outlook to a local outlook focusing on Albert Campbell.

After learning about the rights they were entitled to, and ways in which they could ensure that their rights were protected, the students expressed their concerns about events which occured in their school. They felt that they were not being represented, they felt that the student body en masse was not being represented and that their voices were not being heard.

The group of students collectively decided upon forming a group to bring CHANGE to Campbell. Though many of the students present were seniors and will not be attending high school next year, they still wished for postitive change in their school; if not in the present, at least in the future.
